Exclusive Solution Technology - Rocker Arm Shaft

In 2009, an American customer (US Top 1000 Manufacturer) that specialized in manufacturing home, light commercial, and industrial standby generators contacted Shun Ji Wei to order a customized rocker arm that could reverse the upward force of the valve to generate a downward force. They needed an intricate and precision metal machine part to assemble their engine. Other suppliers initially evaluated the parts, but couldn’t provide accurate stamping die design, development, and products because the drawing provided by the customer was outdated and did not match current product dimensions.

Drawing Redesign and Optimization

The drawing provided by the customer was outdated and didn’t match the actual product size. In order to effectively solve the problem, Shun Ji Wei was authorized by the customer to perform reverse engineering technology to inspect the product in assembly. After careful calculation, through 2D and 3D reconfiguration, Shun Ji Wei designed and produced a customized rocker arm shaft with accurate product dimensions that made full use of the mold design to minimize consumables and maximize accuracy.

Shun Ji Wei provided solutions that redesigned, optimized, and improved process efficiency to produce rocker arms that met product specifications and provided a stable supply source with an annual output of more than 2 million pieces. Shun Ji Wei continues to lead the industry for special precision requirements and high-capacity shipments that other suppliers cannot meet.

Improve Process Efficiency

Shun Ji Wei has utilized the technology for manufacturing rocker arm shafts with single punch molds for many years, continuously and stably providing products with an annual output of more than 600,000 pieces. During the second half of 2020, through continuous assessment by mold design and development engineers, it was determined that the mold life and process speed of the rocker arm had interrelated limitations. With the premise that the customer's assembly line maintains production, in order to improve process efficiency, Shun Ji Wei’s R&D mold team proposed a redesign and a progressive stamping production plan. The team efficiently completed the mold design within 60 days: drawing, processing, assembling, testing, prototype output, and customer approval.
